WordPress is very popular content management system or CMS. It powers 28% of the world’s website on the internet.
Does it 100% secure? The answer is NO.
Because of its popularity, many many hackers also interested in attacking it in every way possible.
As a owner of few websites built with this technology, I can attest that it’s a nightmare to woke up and see your site got hacked.
Your attack vectors are coming from a distinct pool of technologies that constitute the WordPress architecture; from scripting, SQL injections, vulnerability exploitation, etc.
Don’t forget the hustle of managing a server such as a VPS. Perhaps, you need solid Linux knowledge plus sysadmin under your belt inorder to efficiently operate and secure stuff.
This alone is not for the faint hearted. Trust me this will scare the hell out of newbies. Working with the terminal is not something you get used to over night. Hehe!
I’m not finished yet, you will run into issues that you’ve never encounter before, and if your website is built for a client, you’ll expect a phone call or an email saying hey, what happened to the website, can you fix it asap?
It’s stressful, and if you had no idea what’s the root cause, you’d be googling solutions like a crazy man. You know, Google is a useful tool but one has to know how to search inorder to get right solutions.
The process of googling for help can be overwhelming for two reasons. First, the results can be broad and many. Some are not solutions to your problem at all. Second, solutions are not specific most times to your problem. Once applied can break your server or website, which leads to more problem.
It could lead to longer downtime and loss of revenue.
